| Summary: |
Within the Czech Republic, close to the German and Austrian borders, the Sumava
National Park represents, together with the neighboring Bavarian Forest
National Park, the largest protected woodland in the central Europe.
Situated by a low, sweet-profiled mountain chain, Sumava features unblemished
natural environments, with important lakes and peat-bogs, rich with their
botanical peculiarities, while some of the last corners of virgin forests in
the Continent can be observed.
The fauna, rich indeed, includes several important European predators, such as
the Wolf, the Lynx, the Wildcat and the Otter; species that have nowadays
practically disappeared from a large part of the western Europe.
The documentary depicts the environmental and naturalistic richness of the park
without disregarding an in-depth glance on the history of the region, once the
social and economic center of the formerly important Kingdom of Bohemia.
